Characteristics of Charcoal-Boiled Water
Charcoal-boiled water differs noticeably from electric-stove boiled water in taste. Charcoal combustion produces far-infrared rays that break water molecules into smaller clusters, resulting in smoother, sweeter water that enhances all tea types — particularly Puer and Wuyi rock teas. Charcoal fire creates a warm atmosphere especially welcome in winter. In traditional tea ceremony, charcoal fire is considered "living fire" bringing vitality to the tea space. Charcoal stoves divide into wind stoves and tea braziers. Wind stoves sit on floors or low tables, larger, burning wood or coal, suited for winter heating and group tea. Use and Safety
Safety is paramount with charcoal stoves. Indoor use requires good ventilation, preferably with smoke-exhausting equipment or open windows, to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. When lighting charcoal, use traditional kindling rather than liquid fuel to avoid affecting tea aroma. Keep burning stoves away from flammable items and have fire extinguishers or water ready. Extinguish by letting charcoal burn out naturally or immersing in water — never pour directly to avoid burns. Allow stove to cool completely before cleaning, wearing heat-protective gloves.
