Body Constitution

Traditional Chinese Medicine classifies body constitutions as cold, hot, warm, or cool. Different constitutions suit different tea types based on their nature. Matching tea to constitution is a key principle of daily wellness through tea.

Identifying Your Body Constitution

Cold constitution types typically have pale complexion, cold hands and feet, soft voice, and fatigue easily. Heat constitution types tend to have reddish complexion, acne or mouth sores, impatience, and constipation. Green tea and raw Pu'er are cooling, suitable for heat types. Black tea and ripe Pu'er are warming, better for cold types. If a tea makes you uncomfortable, switch to a different type.
