Gongfu Brewing

Gongfu brewing is one of China's most refined tea preparation methods, originating from the Minnan and Chaoshan regions. The term "gongfu" means "skill and effort," reflecting the dedication and precision this method demands.

The Spirit of Gongfu

Gongfu tea is more than a brewing method — it is a way of life. It emphasizes harmony between the tea master and the tea, water, vessel, and heat. Every step requires full attention to brew a perfect cup.

Essential Tools

Basic gongfu tools include: a Yixing teapot or gaiwan (120-150ml), fairness pitcher, small teacups (usually 3), tea tray, tea holder, and tea cloth. Yixing clay pots enhance the tea's flavor, while porcelain gaiwans are better for aromatic oolongs.

Brewing Process

Standard gongfu steps: warm the vessels → add tea (7-8g) → rinse (quick pour, 1-2 times) → brew (95-100掳C, 10-20 seconds) → pour → enjoy. Gradually extend steeping time by 5-10 seconds per infusion.
