Hong Kong Local Brands
Though Hong Kong produces no tea, it is a major Asian hub for tea trade and consumption. Local Hong Kong tea brands specialize in Puer and oolong, with many time-honored shops spanning decades. Hong Kong's tea house culture and cha chaan teng (tea restaurant) culture together define its unique tea identity.
Time-Honored Shops
Historic tea merchants include "Tong An Tea" in Sheung Wan and "Wan Cheung Tea House" in Central, founded by Chaoshan immigrants. These shops specialize in Fujian oolong and Yunnan Puer, maintaining quality standards trusted by generations of tea lovers.
Puer Culture
Hong Kong is one of the largest Puer consumption markets, earning the title "Second Home of Puer Tea." The humid climate naturally ages Puer, and many collectors have built fortunes storing tea bought at low prices decades ago. Hong Kong's tea houses have served Puer since the Qing Dynasty.
