Teapot
The teapot is the centerpiece of gongfu brewing, with materials ranging from Yixing clay to porcelain, glass, and silver. Each material suits different tea types, and choosing the right teapot significantly improves tea quality while contributing to tea table aesthetics.
Four Teapot Materials Compared
Yixing clay offers excellent breathability, softens water, and absorbs flavors — ideal for Puer and rock teas, but requires "one pot, one tea" to avoid cross-contamination. Porcelain is flavor-neutral, faithfully presenting tea's original character, suitable for green, white, and light oolongs. Glass allows leaf appreciation, perfect for green and flower teas. Silver heats evenly and softens water, but is expensive. Consider capacity, pour smoothness, and handle comfort when choosing.
